Bobwhite Cup and Bread Plate

I don't see pieces of Bobwhite by Redwing very often. Imagine my surprise when I saw a Bobwhite cup in my local Goodwill. I started poking around the stacks of plates thinking I might come up with a saucer. I didn't find the saucer but I did come up with a bread and butter plate. The hunt is on! If there are two pieces, there might be more. I spent way too much time checking and rechecking every stack. As my daughter's eyes started to glaze over, I decided to give up the hunt. I headed for the check out. As I rounded the end of the end of the aisle, my mouth dropped open. There, sitting on end shelf amongst the plaster figurines and Santa coffee cups, was a pair of salt and pepper shakers in perfect condition! Okay, just one more pass through the dinnerware aisle....

Another ten minutes and my daughter's groans lead me to believe maybe I had better give up the chase. Four pieces of Bobwhite are quite a haul for one day at Goodwill. Time to head home. I got in line behind several other women with their treasures. As I reached the head of the line, I was smiling broadly. The cashier noticed my cute little birds. She commented as she rang up my purchase, "A lady bought a whole bunch of these bird dishes earlier today. She thought there must have been more but I guess she missed these." My smile faded just a little...Sometimes you just don't want to know about the ones you missed....

A February roadtrip added a few more pieces to my collection.
